Enjoy a memorable day on board our vintage train as we travel through the spectacular Pennines with the hills and moors towering high above, then through industrial Huddersfield and Leeds to historic York where the diesel engine gives way to steam for a nostalgic journey to the family seaside resort of Scarborough for an afternoon of fun and frolics. On departure from York we cross the River Ouse with magnificent views of the Minster towering over the historic city, then as the engine picks up speed we cross the Vale of York and follow the River Derwent past Kirkham Abbey continuing through Malton and Seamer to the beautiful seaside resort of Scarborough for an afternoon break.

Scarborough was Britain’s first resort and has been welcoming visitors for 360 years with its two sandy bays, ancient Castle and historic harbour there is plenty to see and do – not forgetting to sample the legendary Yorkshire fish n chips. Our steam train returns in the late afternoon and we re-trace the outward journey to York where a more modern diesel engine will be waiting to take us homeward.

We have 3 different classes of travel available on board our train, but whichever you choose remember to book early in order to avoid disappointment:

Reserved seating is arranged in groups of 4 around a table with bookings for 2 seated side by side with one window seat and one aisle seat - a buffet bar is available throughout most of the journey for the purchase of hot & cold beverages, snacks and alcoholic drinks. It is in order to bring on board your own hamper and picnics for consumption on or off the train should you so desire.

Reserved seating is arranged in groups of 4 or 2 around a table with additional legroom, wide seats and panoramic windows. Complimentary tea/coffee & biscuits is included and a buffet bar is available throughout most of the journey for the purchase of hot & cold beverages, snacks and alcoholic drinks. It is in order to bring on board your own hamper and picnics for consumption on or off the train should you so desire.

A full English breakfast and three course dinner with coffee and chocolates will be prepared on board by our chefs and silver served at your reserved seat by liveried stewards.
