We are pleased to present a memorable day out for the May Bank Holiday weekend as “The Statesman” train travels through Cheshire and underneath the city walls of historic Chester, then following the spectacular North Wales coast with sweeping sea views across the River Dee and Irish Sea for a visit to the beautiful seaside resort of Llandudno with its two sandy bays and traditional pier, to visit the popular annual Victorian Extravaganza.

Every year the Victorian Extravaganza offers a great opportunity to experience life in a former more graceful age with the townspeople dressing in period costume with vintage cars and omnibuses taking to the streets, traditional fairgrounds, brass bands, steam engines, Wurlitzer organs and as if that were not enough the chance to ride up the Great Orme on board the preserved working tramway that dates back to 1902. The railway station is right in the centre of the town and all events are easily accessible.

As an optional alternative our train will also call at Llandudno Junction for those wishing to perhaps visit the beautiful town and castle at Conwy, or ride the service train up the spectacular Conwy Valley to Betws-y-Coed (payable locally).

To make your day complete we have 4 different classes of travel available on board our train, but whichever you choose remember to book early in order to avoid disappointment:

Standard Class
Reserved seating is arranged in groups of 4 around a table with bookings for 2 seated side by side in open carriages - a buffet bar is available throughout most of the journey for the purchase of hot & cold beverages, snacks and alcoholic drinks. It is in order to bring on board your own hamper and picnics for consumption on or off the train should you so desire.

First Class
Reserved seating is arranged in groups of 4 or 2 around a table in open carriages with additional legroom, wide seats and panoramic windows. A buffet bar is available throughout most of the journey for the purchase of hot & cold beverages, snacks and alcoholic drinks. It is in order to bring on board your own hamper and picnics for consumption on or off the train should you so desire.

Premier Dining
Reserved seating is arranged in groups of 4 or 2 around a table in 1st class open carriages with additional legroom, wide seats and panoramic windows. A full English breakfast and a four course dinner will be prepared on board by our chefs and silver served at your reserved seat by liveried stewards. A full wine & drinks list is available with an ‘at seat’ service during the meals. Further refreshments during the journey may be purchased from the buffet bar.

Pullman Dining
This is the ultimate travel experience – seating is in our refurbished Pullman style umber & cream air conditioned wood panelled open carriages ‘Apollo’ & ‘Sovereign’ offering additional legroom, wide seats and panoramic windows with seating arranged in groups of 4 or 2 around a table laid with crisp linen and fully dressed with the finest crockery and glassware. The ticket price includes a reserved seat, glass of chilled bucks fizz followed by a full English breakfast and late morning tea/coffee service with shortbread prior to the arrival at our destination. On the return journey you will be welcomed back on board with a glass of chilled champagne and a selection of tempting canapés will be served followed by a four course dinner with ¼ bottle of house wine, and coffee with petits fours. An ‘at seat’ drinks service is available for purchase throughout the day.
