At Paignton we join the steeply graded heritage line and travel through the woodland estate once owned by Agatha Christie then alongside the beautiful River Dart and into the riverside terminus station at Kingswear, where it is a short crossing on the ferry (price included) to the historic and romantic port of Dartmouth bedecked in all its regatta finery - there is plenty to see and do with antique shops and cafes to explore - why not while away your afternoon with a leisurely cruise on the River Dart or steam hauled journey on the Paignton & Dartmouth Railway. Following a few hours to enjoy the excitement of the regatta, our train will return in the late afternoon.Join us as we recreate one of the great holiday trains of the golden age of railway travel with a journey around the beautiful Devon coast and onto the preserved Paignton to Dartmouth Railway with time available to discover the many charms of the ‘English Riviera’ - the famous annual Royal Regatta at Dartmouth will be in full swing with over 200 yachts, overhead flying displays, steam ships and various events on land, sea and in the air.

 

We travel alongside the stunning Exe & Teign estuary with its pretty fishing boats and views across to Exmouth, before our train takes the exciting sea wall line as we race through tunnels and cuttings of red rock and along beaches and coves at Dawlish with the sea keeping company with the train.

Reserved seating is arranged in groups of 4 around a table with bookings for 2 seated side by side in open carriages - a buffet bar is available throughout most of the journey for the purchase of hot & cold beverages, snacks and alcoholic drinks. It is in order to bring on board your own hamper and picnics for consumption on or off the train should you so desire.

First Class
Reserved seating is arranged in groups of 4 or 2 around a table in open carriages with additional legroom, wide seats and panoramic windows. A buffet bar is available throughout most of the journey for the purchase of hot & cold beverages, snacks and alcoholic drinks. It is in order to bring on board your own hamper and picnics for consumption on or off the train should you so desire.

Guaranteed window tables for 2 are available at a supplement of £20 per person

This is the ultimate travel experience – seating is in our refurbished Pullman style umber & cream air conditioned wood panelled open carriages ‘Apollo’ & ‘Sovereign’ offering additional legroom, wide seats and panoramic windows with seating arranged in groups of 4 or 2 around a table laid with crisp linen and fully dressed with the finest crockery and glassware. The ticket price includes a reserved seat, glass of chilled bucks fizz followed by a full English breakfast and late morning tea/coffee service with pastries prior to the arrival at our destination. On the return journey you will be welcomed back on board with a glass of chilled champagne and a selection of tempting canapés will be served followed by a four course dinner with ¼ bottle of house wine, and coffee with petits fours. An ‘at seat’ drinks service is available for purchase throughout the day.Premier Dining
Reserved seating is arranged in groups of 4 or 2 around a table in 1st class open carriages with additional legroom, wide seats and panoramic windows. A full English breakfast and a four course dinner will be prepared on board by our chefs and silver served at your reserved seat by liveried stewards. A full wine & drinks list is available with an ‘at seat’ service during the meals. Further refreshments during the journey may be purchased from the buffet bar.
