We are delighted to present a two day break to one of the most spectacular shows in the world, the famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo – Travel will be on board the celebrated ‘Statesman’ Train with reserved seats for the performance which is held on the esplanade of the castle high above Scotland’s beautiful capital. Time will be available for sightseeing prior to the show and overnight accommodation is at a luxurious 4 star hotel near Stirling followed by optional tours through the highlands on Saturday morning.
Friday: Our train travels north over Shap summit through the Lakeland Mountains and crosses the border at Gretna with an arrival into Edinburgh around 16.00 - there will be ample time for shopping on Princes Street or experience the historic charm of the Royal Mile or Palace of Holyroodhouse. As the sun starts to set make your way to the castle and take your reserved seats for the evening performance which will include stirring music of the pipes, drums and massed bands of the Scottish Regiments and those from around the world. At the close of the show it is a downhill walk to Waverley station where our train will be waiting to take us to Stirling for overnight accommodation.
Saturday: Following a hearty Scottish breakfast road coaches will depart mid morning to return us on the short journey to historic Stirling. We should have a couple of hours to discover Stirling old town or perhaps visit the castle set high above the valley on a rocky crag, offering superb views across the River Forth before our train departs around 14.00 for the homeward journey through the beautiful Scottish countryside and over Beattock summit – Alternatively, you may wish to join our optional tour (see below).
Trossachs & Loch Katrine:Road coaches will depart around 10.00 for a journey to Callendar, known as the gateway to the Highlands, and through the stunning scenery of the Trossachs, made famous by Rob Roy, before we board the 111 year old restored steamship “Sir Walter Scott” for an hour’s cruise on beautiful Loch Katrine. We will return through Queen Elizabeth Forest and over the Dukes Pass to Stirling where our train will be waiting. Seating is strictly limited to 180 guests and this optional tour should be pre-booked at the same time as the main tour: Supplement:£20 per person
Hotel:Overnight accommodation is at the luxury 4 star Doubletree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro hotel set within 10 acres of private landscaped grounds, the refurbished Victorian hotel offers breathtaking views over the village of Dunblane.

Pullman Class:Seating is in ‘Pullman’ style open carriages at tables of 4 or 2. Included in the meal service on board the train (where appropriate) is bucks fizz with breakfast, a glass of chilled champagne and selection of canapés followed by luncheon with a quarter bottle of house wine. An ‘at seat’ drinks service is available for purchase throughout the journey.
Premier Class:Seating is in 1st class open carriages at tables of 4 or 2. The meal service on board the train is specified below and a full wine & drinks list is available with an ‘at seat’ service during the meals. Further refreshments during the journey may be purchased from the Buffet Bar.
Standard & First Class:Seating is in open carriages with a Buffet Bar available throughout the journey for the sale of hot & cold beverages, sandwiches, snacks and alcoholic drinks.
Buffet Bar: A Buffet will be available on the train for the sale of hot & cold beverages, sandwiches, light snacks & alcoholic drinks.
On Train Meals:(Premier and Pullman only) Friday – Full English breakfast and three course Luncheon
Saturday – Three course ‘Taste of Scotland’ Luncheon and Supper Guests joining at stations marked * should note that they will be served tea/coffee and pastries instead of breakfast due to timing constraints. Supper on the return will be served on departure from Tame Bridge Parkway.
Mobility:Guests with mobility issues should be aware that this tour is not suitable for wheelchairs with the uphill walk required between Waverley station and Edinburgh Castle over cobbled streets and seating at the Tattoo being in tiered stands.
