We are pleased to present a relaxing long weekend break to Cornwall the land of myths and legends, on board “The Statesman” land cruise train, with its rugged coastlines and quaint fishing villages you will savour some of the most unspoilt countryside in Britain. Warmed by the Gulf Stream spring arrives early and flourishes in this sub tropical paradise - Accommodation for two nights will be in en-suite rooms at quality 3 star hotels in pretty St Ives or maritime Falmouth.
Friday: Our train travels south through Bristol and beautiful Somerset before passing historic Exeter with spectacular views across the River Exe as we dash through cuttings of red rock and around the sea wall at Dawlish prior to climbing the Devon banks with views of Dartmoor, then into Cornwall over Brunel’s famous Royal Albert bridge. Guests in standard & first class will leave the train at the county town of Truro for a road coach connection to their hotels in Falmouth, whilst guests in Premier and Pullman will continue around Mounts Bay to the seafaring town of Penzance for an arrival around 17.30 and coach connections to the hotel in St Ives.
Saturday: Following breakfast the day is yours at leisure to enjoy your chosen resort, or, select one of the following optional excursions which should be booked at the same time as the main tour as seats are limited:
The Scillonian
A full day tour as we sail from Penzance on the Scillonian III to the beautiful and unspoilt Isles of Scilly - with its exotic plants, ancient cairns, crumbling castles, sparkling white sands and an azure sea. A commentary will be broadcast as we pass Mousehole and Lands End before our arrival in St Marys for an afternoon of exploration - or perhaps a visit to beautiful Tresco with its famous Abbey gardens. Cornish Gardens
A road coach tour to two of the most spectacular, and very different garden experiences – The Eden Project is rightly described as the eighth wonder of the world. With giant biomes housing an amazing botanical wonderland of tropical plants set amongst waterfalls with swirling spray in a jungle environment and the warm Mediterranean biome, containing plants more associated with California and Southern Africa. We then continue on the short journey to the amazing Lost Gardens of Heligan which were rediscovered in 1990 and have undergone a massive restoration project to make it one of the most beautiful and popular country estates in Britain. Sunday: We depart from Penzance around 10.30 and Truro at 11.15 for the return homeward journey retracing the route through Cornwall and around the beautiful Devon Riviera Coast.
Pullman Class: Accommodation will be in the 3 star “Tregenna Castle Hotel” standing within its own magnificent 72 acre estate overlooking the historic fishing port of St Ives with sea view rooms. Breakfast and Dinner is included, with entertainment on Saturday evening. Seating is in air conditioned ‘Pullman’ style carriages and included in the meal services on board the train is bucks fizz with breakfast, glass of chilled champagne and quarter bottle of house wine served with 3 & 4 course lunches.
Premier Class: Accommodation will be in the 3 star “Tregenna Castle Hotel” standing within its own magnificent estate overlooking the historic fishing port of St Ives. Breakfast and Dinner is included, with entertainment on Saturday evening. Seating is in first class open carriages.
First Class: Accommodation will be in quality 3 star hotels in Falmouth with a limited number of superior and sea view rooms allocated on a first come first served basis. Breakfast and three course dinner is included.

Buffet Bar: A Buffet will be available on the train for guests in Standard & First class for the sale of hot & cold beverages, sandwiches & alcoholic drinks.
